Wizard Nebula - NGC 7380

NGC 7380, also known as the Wizard Nebula, is an open star cluster enveloped in an emission nebula located approximately 7,200 light-years (2,200 parsecs) from Earth in the constellation of Cepheus. The nebula and its cluster are relatively young, with an age estimated at about 5 million years. The designation NGC 7380 has been used historically to describe both the star cluster and the surrounding nebula.

The nebula's appearance and nickname, the Wizard Nebula, derive from its shape that resembles a mythical wizard. It spans an area of approximately 110 by 50 light-years. The intricate patterns of the nebula are shaped by the stellar winds and radiation from the young, hot stars in the cluster, which sculpt the surrounding gas and dust.
